Allison Sherburne - 2024

Allison Sherburne MA Fine Art UH is a contemporary abstract artist based in St Albans. Allison uses layering techniques to build colour and texture into her expressive acrylic paintings. Allison attended Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in 1980 completing a one year Diploma in Art and Design and then an Art Foundation Course.

Drawn towards fashion and textiles, Allison received a BA Honours Degree from Leicester Polytechnic in 1984 and later that year designed an avant-garde collection of clothes for the Crafts Council Texstyles project, culminating in a Gala Presentation at the V and A Museum. Allison continued to create collections and bespoke pieces into the 90’s, but later her attentions focused on drawing, painting and sculpture.

In 2002 Allison exhibited sculpture Spiritual Escape for Platform Art at Gloucester Road Underground Station also in 2002 she was awarded first Prize at the Hertfordshire Open, Margaret Harvey Gallery by the St Albans and District Council for paintings Dream Pool I and II.

In 2014 Allison was awarded a Master’s Degree in Fine Art with Distinction from Hertfordshire University. Allison has shown at Battersea Contemporary Art Fair, Space 2 Gallery, Watford, Walter Strachan Gallery and continues to exhibit in many local exhibitions and galleries.
