Victoria Kennedy - 2022

Following on from a BA (Hons) in printed textiles during the early 1990’s, Victoria designed in London for Anokhi Handworks, Indian clothing and interiors just off the Portobello Road. Travels to India and Mexico early on were influential in obtaining a lifelong passion for colour, decorative textiles and collections of clothing and antique objects.

Since concentrating on painting, she has explored the natural world and the beautiful tangled forms of plants. Exotic flowers in rich colours and seed heads inspire, often as large scale drawings. Victoria works from real life, using a quick spontaneous method of painting and drawing. Fragile peonies, roses and irises are a continuing fascination. She has recently studied different methods of watercolour painting, including 'Wet on Wet' with an RWS artist in South London which has moved her work on to also include ethereal landscapes inspired by recent visits to Provence and Andalucia.

Victoria has had two solo shows in recent years and has exhibited widely in galleries from Southwold to Hertfordshire, open studio events, art evenings at home and private commissions including a recent wall mural. She also holds one to one creative drawing and watercolour classes in her Georgian studio in Woburn as well as exhibiting at Woburn Mosaic Gallery.
