Shirley Keeble - 2021
Shirley Keeble – artist in watercolour, mixed media, and acrylics – has had a life-long interest in art, flowers and the countryside. Working from her rural surroundings, sketching and taking notes, she then usually completes the painting in her studio. The landscapes and still-life paintings often include a mixture of the imaginary within the reality to enhance the drama of the scene or colour.
Shirley is a past member of the Society of Botanical Artists, elected to membership in 1986, and also of the United Society of Artists, elected in 1988. The Royal Watercolour Society awarded Shirley the Silver Medal for the ‘Britain in Bloom’ Exhibition of 1990 and in 1992, the ‘Osbourne Butler Award”. In 1994 she was again “Highly Commended” for her flower painting entries. Shirley has exhibited at the Mall Galleries, Westminster Gallery, Sotheby's, Grosvenor Art Gallery, Trading Places Gallery and the Quartet Gallery and at the BWS Ilkley. Her works hang in private collections in the UK, France, USA, Cyprus, Brunei, Saudi Arabia and in New York as part of a collection shown by an English patron of flower paintings.
Shirley has had many of her paintings reproduced by publishing companies as cards, calendars and limited edition prints.
