Sara Button - 2022

Sara creates vibrant, abstract paintings and is currently inspired by florals. Responding to the ephemeral qualities of the natural world and beyond, her work expresses the flicker and shift, the subtle rhythms of growth and decline at play all around us. She is drawn to both broad and more intimate themes and these connections are absorbed and woven together in what she creates.

Sara loves contrasts and explores the juxtaposition of colour and marks to create energy and depth in her work. In addition to colour, she is fascinated by light and texture and looks to record the inherent patterns in her subject. When painting, Sara is happiest working in acrylic or mixed media and has recently started to experiment with oils.

Sara graduated from Farnham with a degree in Fashion/Textiles and subsequently trained as an educator in Art and Design. She divides her time between working in her studio in St Albans and teaching which she finds a perfect balance. As both a painter and a textile artist, Sara has exhibited in solo and joint shows both nationally and abroad and has demonstrated at events such as the Knitting and Stitching Show and the Festival of Quilts.
