Rita Dare - 2022

Rita is the recent winner of 'The Lady Lamming' Prize, Hertfordshire Landscape Painter of the Year Finalist Highly Commended, exhibited at the Living Crafts at Hatfield House. She was awarded "Best in Show" at Much Hadham Art Society Annual Art Exhibition, and the John Godden prize by the members of Hertford Art Society. Rita belongs to the Philosophical Painters and exhibits in London, Essex and Hertfordshire, and her paintings hang in private collections. She has a Masters Degree in Fine and Applied Arts and a Bachelor of Art at the University of Hertfordshire.

Rita's expressive paintings aim to evoke a feeling or capture an impression of a sense of place, using light and darkness, an atmosphere, or an unexpected detail, rather than a direct likeness; energising the stillness and creating diffused light, the quiet moment, the in-between, the simplicity, the calmness and the beauty of transience of life and of nature.
