Richard Wheeler - 2019
Richard's boyhood upbringing on the south coast and lifelong love of the sea are reflected in his artistic expression. His paintings are mainly seascapes and landscapes in a semi-abstract, impressionistic genre. The relationship between art and poetry, especially of the sea, is reflected in his painting. He paints mainly with a palette knife in oil and acrylic in his studio and en plein air. The ambience of his painting is mainly the Hampshire and Dorset coast, and the dramatic Jurassic coastline further west. Nearer home in Hertfordshire he seeks to capture the spirit of the Chilterns and surrounding areas. He has exhibited at galleries on the south coast and at exhibitions across Herts and Bucks.
