Pat Le Mare - 2021
Pat Le Mare is a Stevenage based artist who originates from Lancashire. She works in acrylics and pastels, usually using a near-black ground and with pastels erasing light areas with rubbers and concentrating on light around objects rather than outlining directly. This creates atmosphere and is a process which feels like gradually developing a photo. Her painting technique is also influenced by this process.
Subjects are taken from travels and local and personal interest, Pat likes to cover a wide variety of subjects - working on several pieces in the same time period and moving from picture to picture, which helps to view work objectively and keeps focus and interest.
Pat has developed her painting and started exhibiting work since retiring from social work in 2010.
