Michael Radley - 2021
Michael Radley has been painting for many years. Although trained in graphic design and spent most of his career in photography his first passion is painting. His preferred medium is watercolour which often seems to have a life of its own, with many paintings a collaboration between the artist and the medium.
The challenge of painting in watercolour can be an unpredictable event. Good paintings creep up announcing their presence perhaps a day later when you look at your previous work with fresh eyes.
Michael likes to complete his paintings in a rapid style using wet into wet which gives his paintings a sparkle with vibrant colours without being overworked.
He has been exhibiting his work at local art societies and has enjoyed a steady success of sales and encouragement. He has dipped his toes into the world of demonstrating but has yet to dive in.
The majority of his work is from life and very rarely uses photographs as he loves the challenge of the moment. His paintings have become a cherished visual diary and though paintings are sold they are never forgotten.
