Marian Hall - 2026
Marian Hall is an artist based in Welwyn, working from her home studio. Her practice is rooted in process-led exploration, developing imagery that reflects an ongoing engagement with the natural environment.
Printmaking sits at the heart of her work. She produces prints on paper, often reworking them through cutting and collage to build layered and shifting compositions. Alongside this, she creates works on linen using print and earth pigments, incorporating stitching to further embed mark-making within the surface. Across both approaches, material and process play a central role, with layering and texture shaping the final work.
Her current body of work explores the landscape and histories of the Fens, responding to its shifting horizons, waterways, and subtle traces of human intervention. Through an experimental approach, she seeks to evoke the atmosphere of these environments rather than depict them directly.
She exhibits regularly and was longlisted for the Jackson’s Art Prize in 2025 and 2026, and shortlisted for the Chaiya Art Awards in 2021 and 2023.
