Madeleine Millhouse - 2018
Madeleine Millhouse was born in Potters Bar Herts in 1950. She has lived in Welwyn Garden City since 1982.
At the age of 60 Madeleine took up painting as a novice under the tuition of local artist Fiona Pruden. Madeleine began by painting in water colour originally then began experimenting with collage, acrylic and inks to express her love of colour and texture.
Madeleine has exhibited at Hertford, Ayot St Lawrence, Kimpton, Stapleford and the new Maynards Gallery where she won the Mayor's award for best artist from Welwyn and Hatfield in 2012, for a mixed media piece titled "A night in Venice".
At the beginning of 2018 she presented her first solo exhibition titled "Colour Fusion" at the Mill Green mill and museum in Welwyn Garden City. She displayed 26 pieces of work which showcased a wide range of media used including lace, sequins, net, bubble wrap, tissue paper etc that all helped to create the finished effects.
