Jill Varone - 2022

Painting has been Jill's passion for many years. She has experimented with most media and continues to enjoy working in oils, acrylics, mixed media and pastel, which remains a firm favourite for the local woodland scenes she loves to paint.

One of Jill's earlier influences, and possibly a turning point, was the work of Canadian artist Tom Thomson. She was inspired by the strength and simplicity and bold use of colour in his work, which is reflected in many of her pieces.

The coastal scenes of Italy often feature in her work, a fond reminder of family holidays. Jill tries to capture an essence of the place, finding the vibrant colours just irresistible.
Figurative work is a recent challenge and one that she is really enjoying, particuarly trying to capture those childhood memories on canvas.

A love of painting has given Jill the opportunity to demonstrate and teach in and around the Buckinghamshire área. Knowing that she is helping others discover the pleasure that painting can bring is greatly rewarding.

Jill regularly exhibits in the Three Counties and has also had work selected by the SWA and exhibited in the Mall Galleries.
