Frances Cooley - 2026
Frances is a painter specialising in oils, painting still life and portraits with 30 years experience. She has a degree in Graphics and illustration from Brighton School of Art; attended four one year life drawing and oil painting courses at the RWA Bristol; and is a member of the Royal Institute of Oil painters, the Mall Galleries, London, and the RWA Bristol.
After finishing her degree, Frances spent many years as a graphic designer and illustrator in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia and America, while keeping up her drawing and painting. For the last fifteen years she has been working as a full time artist.
She has exhibited and sold paintings in North Street Gallery, Bristol 2026, Patchings Art Fair, 2024, Mall Galleries, London, 2023, Moreton Gallery, Cotswold, The New Gallery, Potscatho, Cornwall, and the RWA, Bristol 2018. Frances has also won prizes at Plein Air competitions, and the Chelsea Art Society Paint Out, 2025.
Her work includes En Plein Air, still life and figurative studies. Whether travelling or in her own back garden, she finds inspiration in the beauty of nature. Her paintings en-plein-air bring to life the gardens of England, Wales, Italy, Spain, France and now India.
