Eugenia Alekseyev - 2022
Eugenia Alekseyev is a professional artist and art tutor living and working in London, UK. Her studio is North London and many of her painting are inspired by local London city- and landscapes. She also find inspiration in travelling and is especially fond of painting coastal landscapes.
Being exposed to different cultures and art schools of the US, UK and Russia influenced and helped her develop her unique visual language. Despite academic training, she realised that her heart lies in painting landscapes. “Nature is an internal source of inspiration and strength for me. The colour, shape and design found in nature always feed my imagination.”
When Eugenia moved to London permanently, in order to create a new emotional bond with her new home, she started painting London scenes on the streets of London. This made her fall in love with and discover the beauty of the city and also made her part of the city as well.
Eugenia usually works in oil directly from the subject creating multiple studies for her studio works. She says she needs all her senses to convey the atmosphere of the scene into a two dimensional canvas. “Smells, wind, rain, sounds - they all affect me when I pick colours and place them on the canvas - it’s mostly subconscious.”
In 2020 Eugenia received a prestigious international first place overall August winner of Plein Air Salon organised by Plein Air Magazine, USA and her works are in collections around the world, including USA, UK, Spain and Russia.
