Deirdre Shepherd - 2019

Deirdre (B.A. Hons) is an Irish born artist based in Hertfordshire. Her medium is oil and acrylic paint. Her work is usually on a small, tile-like scale. She likes to incorporate media such as gold and silver leaf which gives the paintings a kind of preciousness, like contemporary illuminated manuscripts. Her paintings are an emotional response to the landscape. She is interested in the folklore, mythology and history of a landscape and this feeds into her paintings. Deirdre was a Fellow at Digswell Arts Trust and has exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair, Brighton Art Fair, The Forum in Norwich and the Garden Museum at Lambeth Palace. She has taken part in artist residencies in the Netherlands, Ireland and the UK. Her work is in public and private collections.
