Claire Pringle - 2022
Claire uses ceramic techniques to capture and preserve things of beauty and importance. The intricate nature of locally found wild plants, and details of domestic handicraft heirlooms can be captured and preserved. She uses the medium of porcelain to capture fine details which are then highlighted with underglazes.
Claire enjoys uncovering and enhancing the tiny details of petals and leaves found within local wild plants. Whilst recording the fine stitches of her great grandmother's crochet within her own work, she hopes to elevate the status of such skills, undervalued historically and seen only as ‘women’s work’. Claire is based in St Albans and has an MA in Fine Art from the University of Hertfordshire.
