Catherine Titmus - 2019
Cath’s Journey started in 2011 when she joined a local drop-in art group. From this point she realised that Art went far beyond painting pretty pictures; there was so much more to be learnt. Jean Picton, (a popular Ayot Art Show artist) who ran the group, suggested that Cath looked into studying a Fine Art Foundation, with a view to moving on to do a B A Honours degree. So Cath then had to do some homework and looked for a suitable local College. After a lot of hard work she found a Fine Art course but there was just one problem! When Cath left school she had no qualifications, so the only way to be accepted onto a Fine Art course was to produce a portfolio that would be good enough. Cath was accepted at Huntington Regional College, which is part of Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She passed her Foundation with a distinction and continued with her journey, having been accepted by the University for further study; sadly, due to ill health and battling multiple disabilities, she is currently studying instead with the O C A, as she can do this in her own time. Cath has such a passion both for her own Art and for all other forms of Art.
She feels one of the most important things with Art is to have an open mind and to think outside the box. She also realises that you are forever learning, and she hopes her journey in this continues and that her passion for art grows and flourishes.
