Caroline Matthews - 2023
Caroline Matthews’ paintings celebrate the natural beauty of trees using pastel, acrylics, pen and collage. She captures the interplay of light and colour seen in the changing seasons.
Caroline trained at King Alfred’s College in Winchester, gaining a BEd Hons specialising in art which became integral in her work with children. Having had a successful career in teaching, she is now focusing solely on developing her practice in her North London studio. In 2022 she was accepted as a member of the Studio Fridays group.
Her work captures moments and memories reflecting not only what can be seen, but what is felt. A reminder to feel that sense of awe that trees impart; in light streaming through leaves, in pockets of interwoven branches that carry colour and in the textured carpet of the forest floor. It’s a chance to stop and look again.
